Midlands Offers Florida Firefighters Cancer Benefit Policy

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA – (October 9, 2020) – Midlands Management Corporation, a managing general agent, wholesale broker, program administrator and insurance services provider, has added to the portfolio of world-class products – Florida Firefighters Cancer Benefit Policy. This group policy satisfies the lump-sum benefit requirements of SB 426.

On July 1, 2019 the Florida Legislature passed Florida statute SB 426 which acknowledges the scientific evidence showing a correlation between firefighting and certain cancers. Senate Bill 426 mandates employer-funded cancer benefits for firefighters. It states that an eligible firefighter diagnosed with certain types of cancer is automatically entitled to lump sum benefits at no cost to the firefighter.

The Midlands Florida Firefighters Cancer Benefit Policy provides the required $25,000 benefit paid upon diagnosis of certain cancers and the $75,000 death benefit. The Policy is available for group enrollment only.
